Interlachen and Florahome are located in Putnam County, FL which is geographically positioned in the center of the state. At only 12 miles away from these two towns is Palatka, the largest city in the county located 50 miles south of Jacksonville, 30 miles east of Gainesville, home of the University of Florida and just 70 miles west of world-famous Daytona Beach.
A short drive will take you to St. Augustine, Florida’s oldest city. Walt Disney World in Orlando is less than 2 ˝ hours away. The beautiful St. Johns River runs through Palatka and numerous large lakes are near by for your year round boating pleasure.
Over the years we have watched the county grow steadily, but it has been in the past few years where we can truly see the migration from the larger surrounding cities into our county. The development of the county is evident by the expansion of State Road 20 into a four lane highway that goes from Gainesville, through Interlachen and Palatka then reaching St. Augustine.
The Wal-Mart distribution center is in the beginning stages of relocating in the eastern side of Putnam County. Numerous new subdivision and business like the already existing McDonalds, CVS Drug Store, etc. are moving into Interlachen and Florahome.
